A mural is any piece of graphic artwork (usually large) that is painted, mounted or made integral with the surface of a wall, ceiling, building or other permanent substrate. Mural techniques include mosaic, graffiti, fresco and marouflage. There are five distinct types of murals, namely: photography murals, abstract murals, scenery murals, portrait murals, scenic murals and digital murals.
