Theory

A theory is a set of abstract rules, a supposition or a system of ideas and principles intended to explain something. It is an unproved assumption; a hypothesis or conjecture assumed for the sake of argument. A theory can be tested, challenged, evaluated or tried in order to provide support for the theory.



The word theory connotes the following:


A deliberate guess

A widely agreed opinion

A well-thought speculation

An approved and endorsed opinion
