Enamel

Enamel is a smooth, glossy material made by fusing glass to a prepared surface. Enamel is loosely used for any glossy protective covering such as durable paint or varnish applied to the surface of objects made from metal, wood, etc. It is a technique of decoration whereby metal objects or surfaces are given a vitreous glaze that is fused onto the surface by intense heat to create a brilliant and colored decorative effect. In essence, enamel is an art form noted for its brilliant, glossy surface, which is hard and enduring.
