Original

An original work of art is the first version of a painting, sculpture, drawing or photograph an artist creates. It is not any subsequent prints, reproductions, or imitations of the work. An original work conveys the precept or original idea that initiated the creation of the piece and expresses what the artist perceived in his mind and conceived with his hands. A work of art that is original can also reveal the artist’s pattern of thought, his convictions, belief system, ideals and values. It can also manifest the evolvement of the artist’s concepts and subject matter and the style he has employed and developed over time to communicate them.
