An archival image is an image meant for safe custody in order to have enduring or lasting utility. Primarily kept offline on a cost-effective storage medium such as USB stick or an external storage hard drive in a secure environment, archival images usually have a higher resolution and are superior in quality than the digital image when delivered or transferred to the user on a digital screen.
