Focal Point

A focal point is the portion of an artwork's composition where attention is centered. The focal point may be most captivating, immediately arresting and interesting for any of the several reasons: it may be given formal emphasis through the use of line, shape, texture and color and light; its subject matter may be controversial or familiar, taboo, historic, current, incongruous, or otherwise compelling.
